Venice Beach
In this sometimes quaint California location, you will find a three mile stretch of beach that on the surface is like any other beach anywhere in the world. But the reputation and the diversity of things you will experience on the beach near Venice, California will demonstrate quickly how unusual this particular vacation destination is and why you will want to allow plenty of time to absorb both the natural beauty and the unique culture that this part of what this California community affords.
If you have ever watched a movie or TV show that includes what seems to be armies of roller skaters, that location may have been found on the beach near Venice. In fact, their beach has been named by some to be the Roller Skaters capital of the world. So if you plan to throw yourself into the local customs and culture of this unique community, go head and rent some skates and get right in there and skate along the paths next to the beach. If you find the hippie and beatnik environment part of the charm of your time in California, Venice's scenic beach area is right for you. But unlike some locations, the devotion to an alternative lifestyle devoted to art and poetry is not faked in Venice. It has been and always will be part of the culture of this community.
In fact, you don't have to worry about buying tickets to a show when you are enjoying the streets and beach area of Venice. The street performer population is active and talented and ready and willing to entertain you in the open street setting for a tip if they do well. Right there in the open, you can find street performers who will put on display their talents in juggling, mime, flame throwing, glass blowing, magic or comedy. Don’t worry if you can only give each performer a small tip. To these entertainers, just seeing you laugh and enjoy their skills is often a big part of their reward.
This unique culture is enough to charm any member of your family or party as you enjoy the many diverse communities of the California coast. When you add the natural beauty of the town and the beach itself, you will be glad to took a few hours or days in Venice to soak up all that this unusual and fun location has to offer.
